HIT ME ONE MORE TIME

It’s a weekend of R-rated openings — every new film on the schedule has an R rating. Good luck out there.

“Hitman: Agent 47” (R) is based on the “Hitman” videogame franchise and stars Rupert Friend as the title character, a genetically engineered secret agent working for a rogue agency that assassinates high-profile targets. Zachary Quinto co-stars.

“American Ultra” (R). A stoner government agent (Jesse Eisenberg) is declared a liability and targeted for assassination but he proves to be too well trained for anyone to take him out in this action-comedy. Kristen Stewart co-stars, with Topher Grace, Connie Britton, Walton Goggins, John Leguizamo and Bill Pullman in support.

“The End of the Tour” (R). Jesse Eisenberg also stars in this true story as a Rolling Stone journalist who spends five days with acclaimed novelist David Foster Wallace (Jason Segel) after the publication of Wallace’s epic novel “Infinite Jest.” Co-stars include Mamie Gummer, Anna Chlumsky, Joan Cusack and Ron Livingston.

“Sinister 2” (R). A mother and her twin 9-year-old sons move into a rural house that is haunted by a pagan deity named Bagul, which tries to force one of the boys to kill the rest of the family.

“Best of Enemies” (R). Documentary about the clash between two intellectual giants of the Cold War era, conservative William F. Buckley Jr. and liberal Gore Vidal as they participated in televised debates in 1968. (The R rating is for clips from movies involving Vidal, “Myra Breckinridge” and “Caligula.”) (Exclusively at the Broadway Centre Cinemas.)

“Sundance Film Festival Short Films” (not rated). As the title suggests, this is a collection of short films that were showcased at the Sundance Film Festival. (Exclusively at the Tower Theater.)
